What is period 9 in Feng Shui?

In the Flying Stars School of Feng Shui, each building has a natal chart. It is determined by when the building was born (when the roof is put on and the energy is “sealed”) and its facing directions. Whenever I provide in-person or virtual Feng Shui Consultations, one place people are surprised to learn of the benefits of FengShui is the bathroom.
When it comes to bathroom Feng Shui there are some simple and easily implemented strategies to protect Positive Energy and to maintain balance in your Home. So, in my blog this month, I want to talk about Feng Shui tips for the bathroom to help you optimize the flow of Chi in your Home.
The Water Element
Before we talk about bathroom Feng Shui, I think it is important to help you understand the water element better. The water element is one of the most important Feng Shui elements. The water element is associated with prosperity, wisdom, and social connection and colours of the water element include hues of blue and aqua. As you can imagine, the bathroom is abundant with water, so many of my tips for bathroom Feng Shui encourage you to balance the water element. Classical Feng Shui principles suggest that an overabundance of the water element in a space can bring heavy emotions and experiences such as sadness, loneliness, and lethargy. So, with this in mind, let’s have a closer look at some ways to boost the Energy in your Home with good bathroom Feng Shui.
Bathroom Feng Shui Tips
Most importantly, we want to use the practice of Feng Shui to hold Positive Energy in your Home. Follow these tips so the Positive Chi does not escape through your bathroom.
Toilet Lid Closed
In Feng Shui for the bathroom, you should always keep the toilet lid closed. As the main function of the toilet is to remove waste by flushing away water, it is important to close your toilet lid so that you don’t flush away Positive Chi. Closing the toilet lid helps to conserve resources and Chi.
Bathroom Door Closed
For good bathroom Feng Shui, you can reduce Chi from flowing away by closing your bathroom door to prevent Chi from exiting through the sink and tub drain.
Balance with the Earth Element
As I already mentioned, there is an abundance of Feng Shui water element in your bathroom, so I always encourage my clients to create balance by adding the Earth Element. A simple Feng Shui tip is to place 8 river rocks or pebbles behind your toilet to keep Energy grounded in the bathroom.
The Colour of Décor
Considering the natural inclusion of the water element in the bathroom, another great bathroom Feng Shui tip is to decorate with grounding colours. Wall paint, towels, mats, and other bathroom accessories should be in earthy colours such as off-white, light or medium brown. Muted yellows are also great choices.
Avoid Water Imagery
As your bathroom already features water, when I consult with Clients, I advise them to avoid pictures with water in the bathroom. Feng Shui for the bathroom guides us to avoid images of rivers, lakes, the ocean, or other watery landscapes in the bathroom. Instead, consider bringing in the Feng Shui wood element by decorating with forest landscapes or even pieces of driftwood.

These simple recommendations can help you achieve more restful and restorative sleep while also promoting balance, harmony, and prosperity in your life.
Choosing your Headboard
Security, support, and grounding are all Feng Shui elements that the right headboard can provide. Choosing a Feng Shui headboard helps to Manifest the right Energy while you’re sleeping. I always recommend a solid wood headboard with smooth edges rather than sharp and pointy. Sharp surfaces can direct negative Chi toward you while you sleep. Avoid a Metal headboard for its heavy and piercing Energy and avoid Glass for its fragile Energy.
Feng Shui Bed Position
One of the most important Feng Shui principles for better sleep is having your bed in the “command position.” This means your bed is in a position where you can see your door but not directly in line with Chi coming through the door. The Feng Shui command position enhances Positive Energy and promotes success. I recommend positioning the bed centered on a solid wall and never tucked in a corner.
Embrace Restfulness
To implement Feng Shui for better sleep, you must embrace your bedroom as a space for rest. TV’s are for an entertainment space, desks belong in an office, and treadmills should be found in a dedicated exercise space. You can create a Feng Shui Intention for sleep by eliminating distractions in your bedroom.
Choosing your Colours
Bedroom colours can have a powerful impact on your sleep. Feng Shui colours for bedrooms are always calming colours. Soft, natural colours such as off-white, light brown, or clay yellow for bed sheets promote grounding Energy and peaceful sleep. Bright colours can be too stimulating. In considering my own bedroom Feng Shui, I avoid reds that can bring up intense fiery Energy or blues that can stimulate waves of emotional Energy.
Harnessing Feng Shui Crystals
Amethyst is a powerful Feng Shui Crystal known for its soothing Energy. Amethyst brings peace to your mind and is a great choice addition to your bedroom for a harmonious sleep. To ease restlessness, I recommend placing Amethyst on your nightstand; or for deeper and more energizing sleep, you can place a small Amethyst under your pillow.
Avoid Mirrors
Feng Shui bedroom mirrors can reflect Energy around the bedroom while you’re sleeping, creating restlessness and even worry. In Classical Feng Shui, we do not endorse mirrors in the bedroom where you can either see yourself when in bed or get in and out of the bed. If you’re having difficulty sleeping or wake up tired, I recommend reconsidering mirrors in your bedroom altogether or keeping them covered while sleeping. While Feng Shui mirrors can be associated with luck and prosperity, they can create clashing and conflicting Energy in the bedroom.
Maintaining Positive Chi
One valuable Feng Shui principle for better sleep that helps you to keep the positive Chi from escaping your bedroom…If you have an ensuite bathroom or there is a bathroom near your bedroom, it’s always a good Feng Shui practice to keep the toilet seat down and the door closed so that Chi doesn’t escape down your drains.
Feng Shui Plants for a good night’s Sleep
The topic of Feng Shui plants for the bedroom is a debated topic among Feng Shui experts. In my experience, plants are always a welcome addition to your Home and your bedroom when chosen carefully. Snake plants filter indoor air and are one of the few plants that convert carbon dioxide into oxygen at night. Bamboo (one or three stalks) in the bedroom can bring balance and harmony to your life and relationships.

Money Tree:
The money tree brings good luck and invites wealth energy to the home. Its stems are usually braided to symbolize longevity. Money trees thrive in indoor environments.
Jade or Chinese Money Plant:
Both jade plants and Chinese money plants are easy to care for. In the case of jade, their leaves look like precious jade stones which represent long life in Feng Shui. Chinese Money Plants have round leaves that look like coins which symbolize good luck, fortune, and money.
Lucky bamboo:
An easy-to-care-for houseplant, lucky bamboo will thrive in indirect light. Placing the bamboo in the centre of the home attracts and improves your health while placing it close to the desk in your office helps to attract wealth and career opportunities. If you place the lucky bamboo close to where your family spends lots of time together, you’ll welcome harmonious vibes into your home.

Since 4 is not a good number for Feng Shui, we don’t recommend 4 stalks when buying lucky bamboo.
Snake plant:
As a super easy-to-care-for houseplant, snake plants are one of the few plants that can thrive in low light. It’s great for removing indoor air pollutants and helps to filter out impurities. In my Classical Feng Shui practice, I highly recommend placing a snake plant in the bedroom to help purify the air while you sleep. Since it’s slow growing, it makes a great option for smaller areas of the home.
2. Natural Crystals:
We highly recommend a gift of natural crystals if your friend or family member is interested in manifesting their goals and dreams. Different types of crystals you could gift someone will depend on their goals:
