A Feng Shui consultation is about adjusting and improving energy flow around your home to create better balance in your life. Small changes, like adding a mirror to a space or putting up some art, right through to more significant adjustments, can make a world of difference. But it can be hard to know where to start. That’s where I come in! Here’s how to prepare your home for a Feng Shui Consultation, so you get the most benefits possible.
Before Your Consultation
A successful consultation is about good preparation. So, before we meet, I ask for some information from you.
First, there’s a questionnaire to complete, which helps me focus on the areas of importance during our consultation. The questions ask for pertinent information, such as the residents’ birth data and any questions or concerns you might have at this point for me to address in the study.
I’ll also ask for a copy of your house plan or floor plan. This is a document you can get from City Hall if you don’t already have one. Some charge a small fee, others give it for free, depending on your location.
Using this information, along with compass readings which are an important part of Classical Feng Shui, I make my calculations and identify areas of imbalance among the five Feng Shui energies in any living environment before overlaying it on the floor plan. From here, I then produce a report with my recommendations and plan your in-home visit or online meeting.
In-Person Consultations
The next step is to schedule a meeting at your home.
Home consultations vary in length, depending on your needs, questions and the size of your home. But, to give you some idea, it lasts for a minimum of two hours.
I come prepared with your customized binder, which includes a detailed written report and Personal Trigrams of all primary members of the household (to suggest your personal best directions and power colors, etc). I do a walkthrough of your home with you, detailing my findings and recommendations in your case study. I aim to give you a clear plan to execute to improve the energy flow in your home. I expect you’ll have questions, so this is the time to ask me anything you want to know. I want to be sure it all makes sense to you before I leave.
Your consultation ends with a meditation and Energy Clearing Ritual. This is a complementary addition to Feng Shui consultations. It helps to balance and clear negativity and stagnant energy from your home accumulated over time.
Online Consultations
The internet has made it possible for me to extend my Feng Shui consultations to you virtually. Online consultations are an obvious choice for people who are not comfortable with me coming into their home right now. Mostly, that means my services are accessible to you, even if you’re not in the lower mainland of BC.
An online consultation works much like a home consultation, with a few differences. As before, I sent you a questionnaire and asked you for your home plan. I also ask you to send photographs and a walkthrough video of your home. Don’t worry, I give you full instructions on how to do this when you book in.
Once I’ve put together your case study, you’ll receive a detailed report outlining all areas of your living space and also all the household members’ Personal Trigrams. I schedule a Zoom meeting with you to go through everything. This is the equivalent of me walking through your home. I guide you through the recommendations I’ve made, and you can ask questions as we talk.
The online consultation doesn’t include a space clearing ceremony but I do guide you through it, which makes you better equipped to do it whenever you feel your home needs it in the future.

Did you know the position of your desk can influence the very happiness, success and prosperity of your business? To encourage success, the best place for your desk is the command position. This is where you can see as much of the room as possible, facing the door with the wall behind you. Think about it. How many offices have you been into where the boss had his back to you as you came in?
What your desk is made from is also important. The best choice in Feng Shui is a wooden desk, which allows the natural energy to come into your workspace.
Think About Lighting
In Feng Shui, the use of bright lights in entrances or on signs will attract prosperous Chi to your business. The use of metallic colours, like gold or silver, also encourages good fortune. And if any lights stop working, do try to replace them as soon as possible.
Plants and Flowers
Plants and fresh flowers in your workspace, like a wooden desk, allows natural and vibrant Chi to flow. They also improve the air quality of your space, as well as bringing in a little nature from outside.
Of course, you should make sure you keep your plants watered and healthy. Spend some time removing dead leaves and put them in areas where they’ll get natural sunlight.
Some of the best plants that aid with your business success, according to the principles of Feng Shui, are the Peace Lily, a Lucky Bamboo plant, a Moth Orchid or a Jade plant. This can include all kinds of art – wall art, positive quotes and affirmations and photographs of natural scenes, for example. Some large photos around your office space will encourage inspiration and renewed energy, even when you don’t have any windows.

It’s worth placing a Salt Water Cure in your home to remove that negative energy, allowing the good Chi to flow through again. What is a Salt Water Cure, and what does it do?
As the name suggests, a Salt Water Cure is a powerful cure that works to disperse and absorb any negative energy from wherever it’s placed. This could be in your home or office, wherever you feel there’s negative energy that requires removing.
Many ancient cultures state that salt has cleansing properties. It’s also thought to ward off negative energy. Combined with water, it becomes a powerful cleansing tool. The addition of the metal coins helps to stimulate a chemical reaction, allowing the negative energy to be dispersed and absorbed.
Salt Water Cure must be replaced every 12 months or at the beginning of the Feng Shui New Year in February when we renew the remedies in Classical Feng Shui. In some cases, it may build up an overflow of salt crystals from the top, depending on how much negative energy it receives. Keep an eye on the container; if it looks like it has done a lot of work and has become unmanageable in growth, then replace it with a new one.
Salt Water Cure
A Salt Water Cure consists of Himalayan Salt, which should be the highest quality you can find, a glass container, six brass I-Ching coins, and water. For the best results, the coins should come from a prosperous Dynasty, be cleared of any negative energy, and be empowered with positive energy.
You should repeat this practice each year at the beginning of February when the remedies in Classical Feng Shui are renewed. It may be that your Salt Water Cure creates a significant build-up of salt crystals due to the amount of negative energy it is absorbing. If it starts to become unmanageable as a result, you can replace it sooner.
Where to place your Salt Water Cure
Choosing a location for your Salt Water Cure is vital as negative energy moves from year to year. The location of the annual stars can help to determine this.
Once you know your location, place the cure somewhere safe, where it can’t be knocked, moved, or tampered with. This helps to avoid disturbing any of the accumulated negative energy. I recommend placing it behind a sofa, a decorative object, or a full plant, but ensure it’s somewhere you can easily access it so you can add water as needed. It’s worth placing the cure in a dish or earthenware, or ceramic planter, as sometimes it can overflow onto the floor. Keep the container open and uncovered. Don’t place it inside a cupboard or enclosed space.
Disposing of your Salt Water Cure
It would be best if you gave proper care and attention to the disposal of your Salt Water Cure at the end of the 12-month period. This is because it will have absorbed and built up a lot of negative energy in that time. You shouldn’t clean the coins or bowl and reuse them. Instead, dispose of the entire cure properly and start with a fresh new Salt Water Cure. The best way is to discard it entirely in the recycle bin. That way, you are literally throwing out the negative energy that the cure has removed from your home or office!

No one wants to wake up and dread the work day ahead of them so using classical Feng Shui principles to help de-clutter and de-stress our devices can be an amazing way to encourage those positive emotions in our daily routine.
By simply applying the following tips, it can help you and your subconscious mind attract new possibilities and opportunities for wealth, growth and fame.
Keep the Phone and Computer files clutter-free, delete old phone numbers that no longer serve you, clear out old, rarely used emails and files and stay current. When information is hard to find, we get frustrated and this clouds our interactions and the ability to think clearly. By clearing out old information, you create room for new clients and business to come your way. That also goes for the Trash Folder…once they’re deleted, they still haven’t left. By keeping the recycle bin clear, you will truly remove the files and extra clutter.
In the same way that you want to have plenty of free space in your surroundings for the Chi to flow freely, you also need to have ample space and memory on your device. Sluggish, slow moving Chi without ample free space is not conducive for new opportunities to come into your inbox.
Keep your screen clean to allow new experiences, people and prospects to enter in your life and business. When its full of dirty, greasy fingerprints, it will prevent you from seeing the opportunities that are coming your way.
Make sure the desktop image you choose is inspirational and welcoming. Waterfalls, Family Pictures, Vacation spot photos you love and pictures of calm water/beaches all make great images to keep in front of you. Choose vibrant colors to encourage clarity, energy and positivity.
Attempt to open your devices every day for at least few minutes for Chi to flow as it needs to be fresh. Stale Chi can get trapped and can’t escape just like when we open windows to let in fresh air.
Choose a password that inspires you as this is a simple yet highly effective way to send your higher self a positive reminder. Change it regularly to generate fresh and positive energy.
Protection is an important key in Feng Shui and that also applies to your devices. When you take protective actions to enhance your peace of mind and diminish your vulnerability, you are strengthening the positive Chi. Make sure your information is protected by installing protective software and virus detectors.
Have you heard of the term “Personal Trigram” in Feng Shui and confused with what it is? Your Personal Trigram is based on your gender and date of birth and is used to determine your compatibility with a building, as well as your most auspicious direction and directions to avoid. It is your personal blueprint because it is determined from your birth and the key to how you’re influenced by Earth’s magnetic pull your entire lifetime.

Your Personal Best Direction is your best location for prosperity and great fame and it’s recommended to have your back face this direction for productivity. When setting up your desk both at home or in the office, position yourself with your back to this direction, as well as in the living room and dining room and you will be constantly supported while sitting. If you want to improve sleep, put the headboard of your bed facing the best sleeping direction.
