Close Look TV Interview

I was honoured to be invited to speak about classical feng shui on-air with Shelly Singh, host of Close Look TV, a popular Punjabi TV series on Shaw Multicultural Channel. I took the opportunity to share in Punjabi how to invite positive energy into a space.

During the interview, I was asked many questions pertaining to this topic:

  • How is Classical Feng Shui different from other modalities?
  • What is a Luopan Compass?
  • How do you know if the energy is flowing or blocked?
  • Why is it that sometimes, when you move from one Home or Business to another, the energy doesn’t feel the same anymore, whether it’s health, relationships or prosperity?
  • Who is the right candidate for Residential or Business Feng Shui Service, and what is the procedure?

I invite you to watch the episode in its entirety for my responses to the above questions and an overview of the five classical Feng Shui elements: Wood, Metal, Earth, Fire, and Water. Alternatively, you can view the interview here. You can also visit Close Look TV by visiting their website.

You can also learn more about my smudging ceremony, why energy clearing is important, and what my process includes (Zenergy Chimes, Sage, Palo Santo, and Rose Water).

Invest in your Body

Our body does not need us, we NEED our body! We take our bodies for granted, Yes! We are all guilty of it. We neglect them, abuse them in subtle ways, shame them, expect them to look perfect, compare them to others… Why? Why do we do this?

Let’s take a moment to reflect on this and be grateful for just even being alive today! This body has carried us through some very hard traumatic times of our lives, it has persevered through it all, and here we are today, in present. Let’s start fresh. With small steps of just acknowledging that we are gifted with this amazing mechanism with incredible resilience and healing power. Let’s be grateful and take care of what is gifted to us by Mother Nature. Some fresh air, good nutrition, hydration, yoga, walks in nature, rest, meditation… do whatever it takes to care for yourself.

This is showing respect and love to the body that has been with us since our very existence and shall carry us through life till our last breath.

Feng Shui in the Bedroom

The 3 important R’s in the bedroom are Romance, Rest and Recharge. Any bedroom Feng Shui that helps improve sleep is a necessary foundation for improved romance in the bedroom.

Place Your Bed Properly

Feng Shui is the 5000-year-old art of placement. Since it’s been proven that everything is ultimately energy, it makes sense that where you position your bed is very important. It should be placed relative to the door. The bed should be positioned where it allows the sleeper the widest possible scope of the room. A restricted range of sight within the room can restrict the sleeper’s Chi and their life vision. The larger the space in front of your bed, the more your life expands, breathes, and improves. It’s also important to not sleep with your head under a window.

You should avoid placing your bed in a corner because you or your partner may feel trapped. This means that both sides of the bed should be easily accessible so that you or your partner doesn’t have to climb over another body to get on and off the bed. Place your bed properly to prevent one person from getting the less desirable position. If it’s possible, move your bed so that both sides are at an equal distance from the walls. If one side of the bed is touching the wall, the person who is sleeping facing the wall could feel deprived of freedom, restricted or stuck in the relationship.

Visibility of the Bedroom Door

You should clearly see the bedroom door from the bed. Not seeing who is approaching can keep you uncertain and on edge. Even if you think that you’re accustomed to not seeing the door, you can still likely experience ongoing subconscious stress, which can create imbalance and frustration. If your bed position doesn’t allow you to see the door and you can’t move the bed, you can place a sizable mirror opposite the bed that allows you to easily see the door. If you need to angle the mirror to show the door, use a standing mirror angled to the appropriate position. The direct line from the door to the bed should not sit in the direct line of the path of the doorway. If your bed does sit in the direct line of the door, the Chi of the door runs directly and too powerfully up the middle of the bed. This factor can create diseases along the midline of the body. Seeing the door to your bedroom symbolizes that you know what life is bringing and feel prepared to deal with whatever comes. You’re in command, and the results manifest positively in many areas of your life.

A Solid Headboard

headboard

A good solid wooden headboard is recommended for your sleep quality because it gives you a subtle sense of security. Metal headboards are not recommended. Scientific studies have concluded poor sleep quality can be detrimental to your mental and physical health, including the sex drive.

Creating a Loving Environment in the Bedroom

Remove past relationship photos and mementos from the bedroom (and from your home), no matter how romantic or nostalgic you are. Eliminate the old to bring in the new. If you have pictures or other physical reminiscence of a relationship hanging around, then they’re still there! Don’t keep objects that remind you of failed relationships. Make sure that you have new sheets, too, to sleep on. Old energy can linger in the bed as well.

Keep the TV out of the bedroom

Any electronic equipment should be placed in the office or other area of the home. A TV in the bedroom is not conducive to romance. The bedroom is for loving, not working. Don’t mix work or play. Purge the room of all work-related materials that distract you. No exercise equipment in the bedroom, it makes your relationship exhausting. The effort you put when exercising will be transposed in your love life. And certainly, you don’t want your relationship to feel like a sustained effort.

Do not keep your altar in your bedroom

It is said to be disrespectful. No spiritual pursuit or spiritual deities, it prevents relationship and intimacy.
If mirrors in the bedroom are facing the bed, relocate them because it reflects the couple on the bed. Some believe that this will cause a failure in the relationship because of the entry of a third party.

In addition to the above:

Have things in pairs because it promotes feelings of equality.
Mismatched night tables create an imbalance in the relationship. Replace them with a set to encourage equality in your relationship.
Having a pair of matching lamps show you want to share your life and home with your loved one.

Do not have just a single chair in the bedroom; have a pair of chairs.
The images and objects surrounding you affect your life more than you could ever imagine. Check the statues and art in your bedroom and Remove the paintings, sculptures or photos representing negative situations, loneliness, sadness, war, fight etc . They can bring upon you negative energies and create a tense atmosphere in your love life when, alternatively, the bedroom should be peaceful and safe for those who sleep there. You can replace them with a painting of peony flowers or love birds as these represents love.

Do not display family and children’s photos in the bedroom
This is said to hinder your sex life. Put such photos in the living or family room where they belong.

Adjust light levels in your bedroom

Having a dimmer can help keep the light levels balanced. This is very important, as light is one of the most powerful manifestations of energy. Toxin-free candles are recommended as the best option for bedroom lighting.

Set the mood. The mood in the bedroom is important, e.g., light-scented candles, drape sheer fabrics or lace over lamps. Keep lighting soft. Play romantic music. Place “happy” photos of you and your partner on the dresser.

The bedroom should be well-ventilated

This is beneficial in moving old energy out of the room. Keep all doors closed during the night. It might be your bedroom door, the door of your closet, your bathroom door, etc. This will ensure the optimum flow of nourishing and healing energy and will improve your health and strengthen your relationship.

The size of your bed matters

If you are single, a single mattress is not a good idea. In addition, sleeping on either a king-size or single mattress doesn’t encourage romance. Sleeping on a huge mattress does not encourage intimacy. Invest in a full-size or a queen. Store nothing under the bed, and keep it clean. Storing items under your bed affects your sleep. This kind of mundane imagery is not conducive to rest or romance. Think of sensual, soft, bedding when selecting pillows, sheets and comforters. Any type of bedding that creates a cozy environment is great for the bedroom.

Rose quartz or green quartz is recommended

Rose quartz hearts

Rose quartz is the most desirable of all quartz and is associated with love, romance and relationships. Buy chunks of rose quartz, rose quartz hearts, and also rose quartz lamps to place in your bedroom. Always have the rose quartz in pairs. Widely known as the “Love Stone”, rose quartz is most favored for its ability to speed up the process for those seeking true love, mending broken relationships and jazzing up your existing romance life.

Add a statue or picture of Ganesh outside the bedroom door to remove any obstacles to partnership/romance. Add a picture or statue of Kwan Yin, the Goddess of love and compassion, as you enter the bedroom. Do not have her facing the bed.

Remove anything fragile

If anything in your room triggers anxiety or feeling of clumsiness, change your bedroom decor. There should be nothing in your bedroom that contributes to stress.

Feng Shui tips can only get you so far. What’s important is that you make the effort to improve your relationship and not just expect Feng Shui to do all the work. Feng Shui however, can enhance the chances and quality of a solid relationship and these surefire ways are recommended to create an environment that supports and enhances your love life.
